Purpose of the Job To provide professional Structural Design input and expertise on all Structural Design and Maintenance matters. Major Tasks 1. Utilising design skills as an Engineer within the Projects Section. Working with other professional disciplines within the Projects Section as part of the design team during the design process and monitoring projects during pre and post contract stages. 2, Responsibility for preparing Calculations, Technical Specifications and Design Drawings for new build and refurbishment Projects. Preparation of manual or computer based structural calculations for design and evaluation of installations. 3. In conjunction with the Engineering Team Leader, contributing to the attainment of high corporate design and professional standards. Ensuring compliance with all relevant current legislation and standards including safety legislation. 4. Responsibility for programming personal workload over a number of projects. Ensuring familiarity and compliance with pre and post contract administration and office quality systems. 5. In conjunction with the Engineering Team Leader contributing to cost control of projects and strict adherence to budgets. Preparation and verification of estimates, valuations and final accounts. 6. Preparation of technical reports to determine optimum design criteria and budget costs for new or replacement structural designs, upgrade of existing buildings. 7, Providing supervision and guidance to other members of the Projects section where required and liaison with Clerk of Works to ensure maintenance of high quality standards on site. 8. In conjunction with the Engineering Team Leader assisting in the development of new IT technology relevant to the Engineering Team, including undertaking training as required. 9. As a member of the Engineering Team, contributing to the general development of the Team and the Projects Section. 10. Promoting Customer Care awareness in the Engineering Team.
