| My client is actively seeking a Senior Consultant to work within their FM Engineering Centre based in Berkshire. The aim of the FM Engineering team is to provide fact-based guidance and consultancy services that will help those involved in designing, constructing and operating services in buildings to improve cost, quality, time and predictability of performance. The workload is principally consultancy in nature although the department also undertakes some research work. The role of Senior Consultant within this team covers the following range of services:
Promoting best practice in maintenance operations Benchmarking buildings (energy consumption and maintenance costs) Maintenance audits Maintenance strategies and schedules development Forward maintenance planning advice Investigations into incorrectly performing HVAC plant Post occupancy evaluation Energy audits and energy management advice Condition surveys
Their clients are varied and they enjoy a high level of repeat business. Industry sectors include predominantly commercial offices, data centres, financial institutions, retail and universities.
The ideal candidate is expected to ultimately develop proposals and deliver consultancy work on the range of services listed above. There is potential to influence the consultancy work undertaken to reflect the successful applicants background and competence. There may also be a requirement to develop and undertake medium term research projects (typically one to two years duration) and these will be fully supported by the FM engineering team. The requirement is for a person with a mechanical / electrical maintenance or building services commissioning background. Sound technical knowledge, good communication skills and good customer care is essential
Reporting to the FM engineering team leader the key duties and responsibilities will include:
Delivery and report writing of the listed consultancy services above with the support of the team. Undertake site visits and liaise with clients and their maintenance teams. Undertake research in the area of energy conservation.
