Design Engineer - Poole, Dorset

Job Ref. :uker16436 Design Engineer   Job Location: Poole, Dorset   Terms: Permanent only   Salary: Competitive Job Details Northey has a very full order book and there is a requirement to boost the engineering department with a competent detail design engineer. The company manufactures products to its own design and also builds these and other products into packages to meet specific process requirements. Industries include water, nuclear, oil & gas, chemical and pharmaceutical. Customers include Shell, Wessex Water British Nuclear Fuel, Air Products, Thames Water Limited and British Oxygen. The design engineer will be involved in the projects from initial negotiation thorough to execution and commissioning. Duties include detail design of the assembly and or skid package, selection of components, and suppliers, dealing with the production department and suppliers in both the specification of equipment and procurement. This will occasionally involve travel and visit to sites in the UK and overseas. Jobs are completed on a one off basis and it would also be the responsibility of the design engineer to ensure that they are carried out within budget and delivery schedule. There is also room for innovation, improvement and enhancement of the products and the packages and modifications to help reduce cost The design engineer will be part of the engineering team, reporting to the General Manager who is responsible for Engineering and Production. Experience and Abilities The ideal candidate will be energetic, have good engineering knowledge, strong ability in 2 or 3 D CAD design, computer skills, be creative and have commercial awareness. Flexibility and good written and verbal communication abilities would be an advantage. Location Based in Poole, Dorset, this is a permanent position immediate available.
